Surprise Church - Bismarck ND - Day Trips

THERE'S LOTS FOR YOUR FAMILY TO DO IN BISMARCK

The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department invites you to discover the unique beauty and history of our great state. Retrace the steps and glimpse into the lives of the Native Americans, trappers, traders, homesteaders and explorers who came before us. Traverse the rugged Badlands, heavily wooded valleys and rolling hills through our extensive trail system.

From wildlife to scenic drives, or hiking and camping, Theodore Roosevelt National Park has it all. Open year round.

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center stands at the crossroads of culture and commerce on the Northern Plains. Today's visitors will experience engaging exhibits, hundreds of period artifacts, world-class art collections and friendly interpreters who tell the story of the Lewis and Clark Expedition like never before.

The Enchanted Highway begins at Exit 72 on I-94 near Gladstone and terminates 32 miles down the road in the small town of Regent. Beginning with "Geese in Flight" at Exit 72, large metal sculptures are placed along the county highway, each with parking a area and kiosk except "Geese in Flight," which is viewable from adjacent interstate. Sculptures include "World's Largest Tin Family," "Teddy Rides Again," "Pheasants on the Prairie," "Grasshoppers in the Field," "Deer Crossing" and "Fisherman's Dream." The gift shop in Regent has miniatures of each statue and the Enchanted Castle motel and restaurant offer hot meals and a soft bed.

The Scandinavian Heritage Park located in Minot, North Dakota is a magical place where you’ll find remembrances and replicas from each of the five Scandinavian and Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

The Visitor's Center at Assumption Abbey is open to all guests and visitors, where a joyful monk will welcome you when stop by anytime during our scheduled hours. There you can find information on self-guided tours, the monastic life, and the history of Assumption Abbey. Assumption Abbey is also open for private and group retreats.
